More Xbox and Steam users can play Halo Infinite on September 30

A chance to play, even for those that haven't signed up.

What you need to know

  • The second technical preview for Halo Infinite is ongoing.
  • Next weekend, the preview expands to test out Big Team Battle.
  • According to 343 Industries, more players will be able to join that weekend without going through the Halo Insider program.

The second Halo Infinite technical preview is currently underway, with several different times and dates to play Halo Infinite over the weekend for players who were previously invited to try out PvP in Arena against both other players and Halo Infinite's Bots. The next weekend's flight, which is set to run from Sep. 30 through Oct. 4, will feature Big Team Battle. According to 343 Industries, even more users will be able to join next weekend, though there will still be a cap.

Brian Jarrard, community director at 343 Industries, shared via Reddit that next weekend, "Steam and Xbox players will have an opportunity to participate without going through the Halo Insider process." Jarrard noted that to what extent this will extend is not yet certain and this isn't an open beta, there will still be a limited on the number of players allowed in.

So if you haven't managed to join the via Halo Insider Program, you'll have another chance to try and play starting on Sep. 30. We'll share more information as it becomes available. In the meantime, we're also tracking the list of maps, vehicles and weapons we know of so far in Halo Infinite.

Halo Infinite is currently scheduled to launch on Dec. 8, 2021 on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, PC and Xbox Cloud Gaming. The multiplayer is free-to-play and the campaign will be included in Xbox Game Pass.
