Dell's new Alienware gaming desktops are here. The Aurora Ryzen Edition R14 runs on up to a Ryzen 9 processor, and the Aurora R13 is powered by up to a brand-new 12th Gen Intel Core i9K CPU. Both PCs are available starting today, October 27, 2021. The Aurora Ryzen Edition R14 starts at $1,250, and the Alienware Aurora R13 starts at $1,480.
Alienware announced a refresh to its Aurora desktops earlier this month, but we now have more details about the powerful PCs. High-end configurations of both Aurora desktops have four 120 mm fans. The desktops also feature a chassis that is 1.5 times larger than previous models.
Dell states that its new Alienware Aurora desktops are 13-16% quieter when idle than earlier models. During CPU-intensive tasks, the new Aurora PCs are up to 9% quieter than their predecessors. When overclocked with 175W devoted to the CPU, the new Auroras are said to be up to 13% quieter.

In addition to running at a lower volume, the new Alienware Aurora desktops are more powerful than the last generation. Graphics performance bumped up by 5% when using the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090. Despite the added power, the desktops run cooler. Dell states that CPU temperatures are up to 3% lower when compared to preceding models.
The desktops are able to run cooler in part because Dell introduced a custom motherboard that places power connections towards the edge of the PC's case.
The Aurora R12 desktop only had a maximum of four externally facing lighting zones. The Aurora Ryzen Edition R14 and Alienware Aurora R13 bump that up to eight. An optional clear side panel helps show off the lighting in the Aurora desktops.
Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition R14
This gaming desktop runs on up to an AMD Ryzen 9 5950X CPU. It's available with up to an NVIDIA RTX 3090 or up to an AMD Radeon R 6900 XT GPU.
Alienware Aurora R13
This Aurora gaming desktop runs on up to an Intel Core i9-12900KF CPU. It also has graphics options of up to an NVIDIA RTX 3090 or up to an AMD Radeon R 6900 XT.
