AMD’s Ryzen 5000 Embedded CPUs have been reportedly spotted via Advantech, who mentioned these CPUs in their listing for the AIMB-552 Industrial motherboard.
Embedded PCs are basically computers that are built for a specific purposes. An example is your microwave controller. As the name suggests, embedded CPUs power such machines. They often feature their own ISA (Instruction Set Architecture) while consuming significantly less power than multi-purpose CPUs.
The Ryzen 5000 CPUs have been out now for over 2 years with Zen4 just around the corner. Now, surprisingly AMD is launching its ’embedded’ lineup for Zen3.
These new CPUs have different specifciations than their desktop counterparts.
- AMD Ryzen 9 5950E 12 cores / 24 threads
- AMD Ryzen 9 5900E 10 cores / 20 threads
- AMD Ryzen 7 5800E 8 cores / 16 threads
- AMD Ryzen 5 5600E 6 cores / 12 threads
The TDP also changes in comparison to their desktop variants.
- The R9 5950E has a TDP of 105W
- The R9 5900E has a TDP of 105W
- The R9 5800E has a TDP of 100W
- The R5 5600E has a TDP of 65W
AMD’s embedded CPUs are compatible with AMD’s X570 chipset featuring support for DeviceOn. The pricing is unknown as of now, although it will be interesting to see how AMD prices cut-down variants of its old Zen3 architecture.
