There have been rumors regarding Activision reviving the Skylanders franchise for quite some time, and while to some this may seem pointless, there appears to be some truth to the idea. This is because, as we previously saw, Toys for Bob did not overlook the critically acclaimed title in their 10th-anniversary stream.
If you aren’t aware, Skylanders is a series of action-adventure games that features collectible toys that can be used to unlock in-game content. The games typically involve players controlling a character, known as a “Skylander,” as they explore different environments and battle enemies. Each Skylander toy represents a different character with its own unique abilities and stats. The toys are placed on a “Portal of Power,” which allows them to be used in the game. The series is known for its imaginative characters, engaging gameplay, and a strong focus on cooperative play.
But, with a series this old, and no actual news from its developers, why are we talking about it now? Well, it seems like someone on the Skylanders subreddit has relit the spark. The user claims to have received an Activision Blizzard survey in which they were asked if they would be interested in a Skylanders companion title. While this simply could be for research purposes and doesn’t imply anything, there could be a lot hiding underneath the hood.
The games in question are three first three in the series: Spyro’s Adventure, Giants and Swap Force. These would all receive HD remasters and would not require figures to play, unlike the original ones. Also, according to some blogs, the release date for these remasters is told to be around 2024, so, it’s not like they are in development, however, if Activision is held upon reviving the franchise, we may well hear from them quite soon.
Until then, we want to know what you think of the game and whether or not you believe the remasters are a good idea or the proper decision to make, given the game’s age and the type of fans it attracts.
