Teamgroup has launched its DDR5 ECC offerings for Intel’s recently announced W790 platform. For context, the W790 platform supports the W-3400 and W-2400 series of Intel Xeon-W processors. More on that here.
Teamgroup DDR5-6800 ECC Memory
Teamgroup has launched its newest DDR5 ECC (Error Correction Code) R-DIMM memory modules. These modules boast a clock rate of 5600MHz, which as per JEDEC’s standards is certified for ‘high performance’.
Moreover, Teamgroup has collaborated with various motherboard manufacturers including ASRock for compatibility testing. The testing was conducted on Intel’s W790 platform or the 4th Generation of Intel Xeon Scalable Processors. These modules are said to support not just XMP 3.0, but they are termed as the fastest DDR5 ECC R-DIMM modules available in the market, clocking as high as 6800MHz.
The Press Release elaborates that Intel’s W790 platform is the first (by Intel) to support DDR5 ECC R-DIMM memory. Users are free to adjust the clock speed of the CPU and also tinker with the ‘clock speed adjustment’ feature of DDR5 ECC R-DIMM memory.
This high-frequency memory comes in both 16GB and 32GB flavors. In addition, users can opt for the 6400MHz or the 6800MHz choice to suit their needs. As HEDT platforms require a lot of processing power, DDR5 EEC R-DIMM is designed with 30µ gold fingers.
Specifications-wise, we see support for dual ECC and a high-precision temperature sensor. As a last closing paragraph, the company reassures users that they are hard at work to bring forth new, exciting, and innovative memory solutions. Teamgroup is dedicated to working side by side with its customers as the hardware industry moves towards the next era of high-speed computing.
We should wait for independent reviewers to test these memory kits in-order to verify Teamgroup’s claims. With each day, it seems Intel’s new W790 platform is off to a strong start. It is good to see team blue back in the game and we hope to see more competition from AMD with Threadripper 7000.
