AMD’s 2022 Lineup of Processors Leak Hours Before Official Launch: Ryzen 6000 APUs Detailed

With just mere hours left before we get to see AMD‘s CES 2022 press conference, the entire lineup of Ryzen 6000 “Rembrandt” APUs have leaked out with detailed specs and features. The leak comes courtesy of Videocardz who obtained two slides from AMD’s planned presentation. These slides not only contain the features but also a fully-fledged list of all the SKUs part of Ryzen 6000.

For those unaware, Ryzen 6000, codenamed “Rembrandt” is AMD’s newest generation of mobile APUs. According to the leaked spec sheet attached below, we can see that there will be two different series under the Rembrandt umbrella. A high-performance “H” series and low-power “U” series. There’s also three new Ryzen 5000 APUs as well at the end of the list.

Rembrandt APUs will use new Zen 3+ cores which is a refresh of the Zen 3 architecture. Zen 3+ is manufactured using TSMC‘s 6nm process node and is said to bring notable performance and efficiency bumps to the table. Most importantly though, Ryzen 6000 APUs will be powered by RDNA 2 graphics. The same architecture used for Radeon RX 6000 GPUs and current-gen consoles.

The top-end Rembrandt SKU, Ryzen 9 6980HX, will boost up to 5Ghz, the first-ever Ryzen chip to do so. It will also have 8 cores and 16 threads with a 45W+ TDP tunable by manufacturers. Being an “X” SKU means that the chip will also be unlocked for overclocking. Moreover, the 6980HX will feature 12 Compute Units clocked in at 2.4Ghz.

The lowest-end Rembrandt chip is the Ryzen 5 6600H(S) which is a 6 core, 12 threads APU with boost clocks up to 4.5Ghz. It also features a RDNA 2 iGPU equipped with 6 Compute Units. However, the TDP of this chip is locked at 35W as the SKU is not overclockable and is meant for upper-budget and lower-mid-range laptops.

Then there’s the Ryzen 6000U series which is basically the low-powered version of Ryzen 6000 but only two SKUs fall under this category: Ryzen 7 6800U and Ryzen 5 6600U. Both of these have the same 15-28W TDP. The rest of the chips are all part of the Ryzen 5000 lineup, so based on Zen 3 and have Vega graphics. These three chips all carry a 15W TDP and are meant for entry-level laptops.

Lastly, the feature list slide of the presentation also leaked showing off the new features AMD’s 2022 lineup of APUs are going to bring to the table. Most notable ones out of these include full DDR5 support along with support for the AV1 media encoder. We’ll also see USB4 with speeds up to 40Gbps and WiFi 6E in all of the SKUs listed in the spec sheet.

AMD will officially unveil all of these along with some new GPUs and an exciting new CPU at their CES 2022 show which is about to begin in a few hours. We’re also expecting info on a new image scaling tech, the AM5 socket and perhaps even a tease for what’s next. The show will begin at precisely 7 AM PT, January 4th, 2022.
