AMD’s RX 7600 XT Based on the Navi 33 GPU Allegedly Faster Than the Kingpin RX 6900 XT

According to @Kepler_L2 , mid range RDNA 3 GPUs such as the RX 7600 XT will use the Navi 33 GPU. Previously, it was believed that the Navi 33 chip will be utilized by high end GPUs such as the RX 7700 XT, however, now budget graphics cards such as the RX 7600 XT based on the RDNA 3 architecture will make use of this GPU.

It is expected that Navi 33 will be built on TSMC‘s 6nm process node featuring a die area of about 360-460mm² which is a reduction of about 11-30%, as compared to the Navi 21 found in the flagship GPUs of the RX 6000 lineup.

Navi 33 will be using the RDNA 3 architecture which will provide higher performance and increased clock speeds. Subsequently, due to the generational leap Navi 33 will have better rasterization and raytracing performance, too, in comparison to the RX 6900 XT

AMD’s new Navi 33 GPU will act as a replacement for the previous Navi 23 chip. This new GPU will feature 4096 cores which is two times more when compared against the Navi 23 featuring only 2048 cores. Navi 23 has been used for AMD’s RX 6600 so we can safely assume that the RX 7600 will operate on the Navi 33 GPU.

It has been reported that the RX 7600 will prove to be plentiful for 1080p gaming having 8 GB of VRAM running over a 128-bit bus. Although, keeping in mind the specifications of the Navi 31 GPU, which offers a 384-bit bus, AMD may opt for 12 GB of VRAM through a 192-bit bus.

AMD’s new Infinity Cache technology which was introduced with RDNA 2 is also present on the Navi 33 GPU which is expected to carry about 128 MB of Infinity Cache.

All things considered , this will bring the performance of the RX 7600 somewhere between the RX 6800 and the RX 6900. This sort of performance while only consuming 200W of power brings forward the efficiency of the RDNA 3 architecture. In comparison, NVIDIA’s RTX 4000 series is expected to be a power hog giving AMD the upper hand in the efficiency department.

RX 7600 XT overview

As for the RX 7600 XT, the performance may be similar to the RX 6900 XT while only coming at a fraction of the cost, however, due to the 8 GB VRAM limitation as resolution and textures quality is increased, expect the performance of the RX 7600 XT to tank significantly due to insufficient VRAM. Although, at lower resolutions the RX 7600 XT will prove more than enough for gaming leaving behind the RX 6900 XT.

Alleged specs of AMD’s next gen GPUs

Due to an architectural leap, the Navi 33 based RX 6700 XT may provide better ray tracing performance than the 6900 XT. The 8 GB of VRAM may cause many to turn a blind eye to the 7600 XT, however , this will reduce the burden on the supply causing the GPU to be produced in higher quantities.

As for the price, the RX 7600 XT is expected to be around $400 which is still a higher estimate as the RX 6600 XT‘s MSRP was $379. If these rumors are true then you can have flagship-like performance for half the price while consuming considerably less power.
