Jez Corden, a well-known journalist and industry insider, revealed before The Game Awards 2022 that Xbox might not be present at the mega gaming event. Still, he was not fully sure about this news and warned fans to be cautious with this particular statement as nothing is set in stone. However, this news actually picked up pace. And there were all kinds of rumors all around the internet about why Xbox will not be joining The Game Awards 2022, and the reason that made the most sense was that Xbox/Microsoft wants to remain low-key with its games announcements and reveals due to the regulatory complications it was facing in its Activision Blizzard deal.
And it turns out that the rumors were true, and Xbox has not even shown one of its upcoming games at The Game Awards 2022, despite Sony announcing a couple of small updates regarding the additional content and new third-party games hitting the platform in future. However, the reason for the absence of Xbox at the event was not disclosed, and that part of the rumors are still not confirmed.
On the other hand, according to Rand al Thor 19’s latest The Xbox Two podcast with none other than Jez Corden reveals that Xbox might be planning an exclusive showcase in early 2023 to show its upcoming first-party games. Rand al Thor on the podcast claims that two different people familiar with the matter have told him about Xbox planning or organizing an event for its games in early 2023. Rand said:
I actually was hit up by a couple of people I know that told me that they are hearing Xbox is putting on or planning, two different people who said that they [Xbox] are putting on a show or something is happening early 2023.”
The above statements strongly suggest that Xbox might actually be cooking up something behind the scenes for the fans. Other than this statement from the industry insiders. Vice President of Xbox Games marketing at Microsoft, Aaron Greenberg, shares a clip of all the upcoming Xbox games with a quote tweet stating that ‘don’t worry you will not have to wait too long for what’s next from us.’
We have a lot planned to show and share about an incredibly exciting year ahead for 2023. Appreciate folks are eager to learn and see more. Timing is always key, but don’t worry you will not have to wait too long for what’s next from us. https://t.co/d1dca2i2Nt

And it makes sense to some extent with anticipated games like Forza Motorsport, Starfield, Redfall, Avowed, Minecraft Legends, and S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl pending a proper in-depth reveal and a definite release date; it is only fair that Microsoft finally ends the endless waiting of Xbox fans for the games that are planned to be released in the first quarter of 2023. So, what are your thoughts about this? Are you looking forward to a major event from Xbox? Let us know in the comment section below.
