Carl Pei Confirms that Nothing Phone (2) Will be Released by Late 2023

The Nothing Phone (2) has reportedly already begun development, and if everything goes according to plan, the phone will be released later this year. It seems that Carl Pei and the Nothing team are happy with the sales of the Nothing Phone (1). There will be some adjustments this time, however.

Carl Pei, who spoke to Inverse, stated that Nothing Phone (2) will release in 2023. While it is disappointing that we don’t know the precise release date or any other information about the phone, you can anticipate the phone to be released in the middle of this year. That, however, is not even the most interesting portion. The Nothing Phone (2), in contrast to the first model, will be made available immediately in the US as well. Pei stated the following.

We couldn’t do it earlier because we were only in our second year and our hands were tied building the team as we were building the products. Now as we’re on a more solid footing, we can take a step forward.

During the conversation, Pei confirmed the Nothing Phone (2)’s existence and its upcoming release. But it is pretty much the only information that is presently being shared. In the interview, Pei did state that the Phone (2) will be “more premium” than the first Phone (1). Pei, however, would not refer to it as a flagship since doing so would imply that it has the features necessary to compete with titans of the sector like Samsung and Apple. The Phone (2), on the other hand, is expected to be more expensive than a mid-range phone made for emerging countries.

For those who don’t know, the first Nothing Phone (1) was introduced in the majority of Europe and a few other places throughout the globe, but it was never released in the United States. The similar magnitude of launch never really occurred, despite Nothing announcing a “beta membership.” However, even if you gain access to the phone in the United States, you will still be unable to access certain foreign radio stations that at best provide subpar assistance.

Nothing managed to generate “nearly 10x” as much money in 2022 as it did in 2021, according to Pei, who praised the company’s expansion in international markets. This is understandable given that Nothing only had a single pair of affordable earphones available for purchase in 2021. It didn’t release its Android smartphone until the summer of last year.

It’s going to be some time before we get any more information on what’s coming up for Nothing in the near future. Stay tuned as we unveil all the upcoming news about the company’s plans for 2023.
