Next Tango Gameworks Title Expected to Be Revealed During Wednesday’s Developer Direct

We know a little bit about the titles that will be shown off at Wednesday’s Developer Direct that weren’t developed by Microsoft. Games like Redfall, Forza Motorsport, Minecraft: Legends, and The Elder Scrolls are expected to be shown off by Microsoft. However, that’s not all; the reveal of yet another game has been leaked.

We now know that at the event, we will see the launch of a new game by the Japanese studio Tango Gameworks, thanks to leaker BillbilKun, who is primarily known for leaking PlayStation Plus games. It’s a smaller game named Hi-Fi Rush, and it’s being developed as Project Hibiki. According to the developers, the game’s aesthetic was influenced by Jet Set Radio, and the overall theme is “rhythmic combat.”

Shinji Mikami, founder of Tango Gameworks and creator of the Ghostwire Tokyo series, announced plans for the studio to shift its focus away from horror games and toward more intimate titles last year. The experienced game designer later told Famitsu that he didn’t want the studio to be known solely for horror games and that other types of games were in the works. He said:

I hope to eventually change the image that Tango Gameworks currently has. At the moment, we are still seen as a studio that specializes only in survival horror.

Of course, it’s nice to have fans think of us as a studio with a reputation for developing survival horror games. But we also want to be viewed as a studio that can create a wider variety of games. We will be releasing more and more new games in the future, starting with Ghostwire: Tokyo, so please give us your support.”

With less than a day to go, it seems as if subtle details are being leaked, and so if anything comes up, we will make sure to keep you updated as new information becomes available.
