Nintendogs Might Release On Mobile Devices Soon, Patent

According to a new U.S Patent filed by Nintendo Co. Ltd and published on 17th January 2023, the acclaimed pet simulator Nintendogs might be released on mobile devices. The patent describes how the game will work on mobile devices using different components of smartphones, including the microphone and camera, to accurately place the virtual objects in a real-life setting.

The patent suggests that Nintendogs mobile game will be like Pokémon GO, simulating the virtual objects on top of the real captured images with the help of the device’s camera. The patent also mentions the use of different parameters to implement this accurately.

The primary difference between the original Nintendogs and this mobile version (as per the patent) is that in mobile devices, the pets will be simulated over real-life locations using the device’s camera, microphone and sensors.

In contrast, the original game used to deploy the pets in a virtual setting. It is exciting news for the fans as Nintendogs was a widely loved title that was not only loved by the fans but was also praised by the critics. Nintendogs became the second best-selling game in its era and won multiple awards for execution and innovation.

Nintendo has been focusing on mobile gaming for quite a while now, and it was a hot question why Nintendogs was a mobile game already, especially after the success of games like Pokémon GO which works on a similar pattern.

About Nintendogs

Nintendogs is a real-time pet simulation video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo DS handheld video game console. It was released in Japan, and was later released in: North America, Australia, New Zealand, Europe and other regions.

It was originally released in three different versions: Dachshund & Friends, Lab & Friends (Shiba & Friends in Japan) and Chihuahua & Friends. It has been re-released twice, first as a bundled release with a special edition Nintendo DS with a new version called Nintendogs: Best Friends and later as Nintendogs: Dalmatian & Friends.

Nintendogs received critical acclaim and won many awards, including the 2006 Innovation Award from PC World and Best Handheld Game from the Associated Press.

All versions of Nintendogs have sold a combined 23.96 million copies worldwide, making it the second highest-selling game on the Nintendo DS, behind New Super Mario Bros.

Because of Nintendogs’ success, Nintendo has made several related products, including Nintendogs toys and a series of Nintendogs trading cards. A sequel, titled Nintendogs + Cats, was released for the Nintendo 3DS in 2011.
