Just recently, HXL shared an image from bilibili where a user ‘Golden Pig Upgrade Pack’ tested the Ryzen 7 7745HX. For more context regarding these CPUs, read our detailed article here.
Ryzen 7 7745HX Tested
The Ryzen 7 7745HX belongs to AMD’s high-end Dragon Range family. It wields 8 cores / 16 threads based on the Zen4 architecture. The base clocks stand at a modest 3.6GHz, however, they can go as high as 5.1GHz. Much like the Ryzen 7 7700X, this CPU is packed with 40MB of total cache (L2+L3). The user mentions that the CPU was running at 95W of power.
In Cinebench R23, the un-named laptop with the 7745HX manages to attain 1828 points in the single-core and 18606 points in the multi-core test. The single-core score falls short of all other Zen4 CPUs, however, the multi-core score remains almost similar to the Ryzen 7 7700X.
Take a look at the chart below to see how well this CPU manages to hold up against other Zen3 and Zen4 processors. Surprisingly, the 7745HX pulls ahead of every Ryzen 5000 desktop CPU in the single-core category. However, that is expected due to the newer Zen4 architecture.
The multi-threaded department is a bit clustered, but to put it simply, the 7745HX is faster than most Zen3 CPUs. In fact, it is somewhat on par with the Ryzen 7 7700X which is quite impressive as they both boast similar core counts.
Conclusion
The Ryzen 7 7745X features 8 cores and 16 threads powered by AMD’s latest Zen4 microarchitecture. It should be able to contend against Intel’s high-end Raptor Lake mobile CPUs. However, a few Intel CPUs like the i9-13950HX may be slightly faster than the 7945HX due to the higher power consumption, but that is yet to be seen. Dragon Range-powered laptops are said to hit shelves in February.
