At Nintendo Direct, Nintendo announced that Switch Online subscribers will be able to play Game Boy and Game Boy Advance games. In addition, gamers enjoy a multiplayer experience without resorting to the outdated Link Cable. Games for Game Boy, Game Boy Color, and Game Boy Advance will all be accessible, although access to the GBA titles will be restricted to purchasers of the costlier Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack tier. Instead of the $19.99, you would normally pay for the Switch Online, it now costs $49.99 annually.

Here are the Game Boy and Game Boy Color titles available at launch:

  • Tetris
  • Super Mario Land 2: Six Golden Coins
  • The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening DX
  • Gargoyle’s Quest
  • Game & Watch Gallery 3
  • Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare
  • Metroid 2: Return of Samus
  • Wario Land 3
  • Kirby’s Dream Land

Game Boy Advance titles:

  • Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3
  • Mario Kart Super Circuit
  • Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga
  • The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
  • WarioWare Inc.: Mega Microgames!
  • Kuru Kuru Kururin

Nintendo is also hinting that some of the most popular Game Boy Advance games, such as Metroid Fusion, Fire Emblem, Golden Sun, F-Zero: Maximum Velocity, and Kirby & the Amazing Mirror, would be included to the service in the future. The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons, The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages, Kirby Tilt ‘n’ Tumble, and the Pokémon Trading Card Game are some of the next confirmed Game Boy Color releases on the service.

It is undoubtedly a nostalgic experience to have to play older games on the most recent Nintendo Switch. Numerous Nintendo fans have expressed their appreciation for the added feature, and it seems that Nintendo is still working to provide its consumers the ideal unique experience.
