Google Vids Opens Up Three Pro Features for Everyone

Google keeps upgrading its AI-powered video and photo creation tools, including Google Vids. Previously limited to Pro plans and temporary promotions, three of the platform’s most useful features are now officially free for all users. This change applies to personal Google accounts as well as every Workspace tier, including Education and Business plans.

When Google Vids first launched, it was announced as a premium storytelling solution aimed at corporate teams and enterprise workflows. Over time, however, demand grew among students, educators, and independent creators. With this update, Google is clearly repositioning Vids as a broadly accessible video tool rather than a niche business product for big teams.

Three Core Google Vids Features Are Now Free

The newly unlocked tools are not some free-to-try extras. They form the foundation of Google Vids’ ease-of-use advantage, especially for users without previous video editing experience.

1. Read-Along Teleprompter

Google Vids now includes a built-in teleprompter that scrolls automatically as you speak. This allows presenters to maintain eye contact with the camera instead of glancing away at notes or scripts. The result is a more natural delivery, particularly useful for presentations, explainers, and instructional videos.

The teleprompter removes the pressure of memorizing scripts and lowers the barrier for users who are uncomfortable on camera.

Personally, I now never record a video without it, even if I memorized the script. It removes the pressure and adds comfort to the video recording process.

2. Transcript-Based Video Editing

One of the best features now available to everyone is transcript trim editing. Instead of cutting clips manually on a timeline, users can edit their videos by working directly with the text transcript.

Deleting filler words, long pauses, or unwanted sections is as simple as removing text from the transcript. Google Vids automatically applies those changes to the video itself. This dramatically simplifies editing for beginners and speeds up production for experienced users.

3. Styled Captions

Styled captions are now fully unlocked across all accounts. These captions are animated, visually polished, and synchronized with spoken audio, making videos more accessible and more engaging on social platforms.

Captions are especially important for viewers watching without sound, and Google’s implementation removes the need for third-party captioning tools or manual formatting.

Promotional Limits Have Been Removed

Before this announcement, many users were accessing these features under a limited-time promotion. Accounts on plans like Business Starter, Enterprise Starter, and Education Plus were facing a cutoff date in May 2026, after which these tools were expected to disappear.

Google has now confirmed that the deadline no longer applies. The teleprompter, transcript editing, and styled captions will remain permanently available, even after promotional periods end.

This update also marks the first time that users on Frontline and Education Fundamentals plans can access these features at all.

No Setup Required for Most Users

For the majority of users, there is nothing new to enable or configure. If Google Vids is already available on your account, the features will automatically appear inside the recording interface and editor.

This rollout reinforces Google’s goal of making video creation feel as frictionless as working in Docs or Slides.

Why This Matters

By removing key paywalls, Google is signaling a broader shift toward democratized content creation. Students, non-profits, educators, and solo creators now have access to the same polished video tools that were once only available for enterprise teams.

With AI-assisted scripting, editing, and accessibility features built directly into the platform, Google Vids is becoming a good option for quick-form video production - without requiring expensive software or advanced technical skills.

I do believe that AI video editing is the future. And Google has all the infrastructure to make Google Vids one of the best tools for video editing moving forward.
