Steam has added four new free-to-play games to its platform, expanding the number of titles players can try without spending any money.
The new releases are all indie games focused on action-heavy gameplay, offering a mix of genres ranging from roguelite survival to platforming and base defense.
The Four Free To Play Games on Steam

Escape Up is an action platformer built around climbing through monster-filled rooms under time pressure. The game tracks performance through leaderboards and increases in difficulty as runs progress.
Dog's Walts centers on a hammer-wielding dog protagonist in a physics-based score-attack setup. The game focuses on chaotic action with escalating difficulty and performance tracking.
Crimson Loop is an auto-shooter roguelite in the Vampire Survivors mold. Players survive waves of enemies while stacking upgrades and abilities between runs, with meta-progression making each subsequent run more capable than the last.
Ze Gunner is a base defense game where players operate a 360-degree turret system against incoming enemies. The gameplay is built around fast target acquisition and holding a defensive position as enemy pressure increases.
All four titles can be found and installed directly through Steam at no cost.
Deponia Still Free on Steam Until March 16
Separately, the 2012 comedy adventure Deponia remains free to claim on Steam until March 16 at 10 a.m. PT. Users who add it to their account before the deadline keep it permanently. The Steam Spring Sale 2026 is scheduled to begin on March 19.
Steam Continues Expanding Free Game Options
Free games are a regular part of Steam’s ecosystem, often appearing as limited-time giveaways or permanent free-to-play releases. Although the latest titles are relatively small indie games, they add variety for players browsing the platform for new experiences without paying money.
Meanwhile, Valve’s Steam Spring Sale 2026 is expected to begin on March 19, bringing large discounts across the platform.
