Xbox Adds 13 Ubisoft Games to Console-to-PC Program, Granting Free PC Versions to Xbox Owners

Xbox is adding 13 Ubisoft games to its console-to-PC program, providing free PC access to players who own these titles on Xbox, as announced on Xbox Wire and reported by PC Gamer.

Starting today, purchasing a digital version of any listed game on Xbox grants access to both the Xbox and "Xbox on PC" versions. Existing owners will receive the PC version through a progressive rollout beginning August 4.

The program is one-way; purchasing the PC version of these games does not provide access to the Xbox edition.

Ubisoft Games Added to Xbox’s PC Program

The Ubisoft titles added to the console-to-PC program are Assassin's Creed Mirage, Assassin's Creed Valhalla, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Far Cry 6, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, Riders Republic, Skull and Bones, The Crew 2, The Crew Motorfest, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Extraction, Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege, and Watch Dogs Legion.

From today, purchasing a digital version of any listed game on Xbox provides both the Xbox and Xbox on PC versions. Existing owners will receive the PC version during a progressive rollout starting August 4.

There are two important notes. First, currencies and consumables from the Xbox version do not transfer to the PC version. However, if a game supports cross-progression, progress from the Xbox edition will carry over to PC. Second, the program is one-directional; purchasing the PC version does not grant access to the Xbox edition.

How to Claim the PC Versions

Xbox owners of the listed games should follow these steps to claim and play the PC versions:

  1. Confirm you own a digital Xbox version of one of the 13 listed games, as the offer applies only to digital copies.
  2. Install the latest version of Ubisoft Connect from ubisoft.com, as it is required to access the PC versions.
  3. For new purchases, both versions are available starting today.
  4. For previously owned games, access to the PC version will begin with the progressive rollout on August 4.
  5. Check if each game supports cross-progression to determine if your Xbox progress will transfer to PC, as currencies and consumables do not transfer.

The offer is available today for new digital purchases, while the rollout for existing owners starts August 4. Xbox has stated the rollout will be progressive, so not all eligible players will receive PC versions simultaneously.

Xbox has not indicated how long the rollout will last or if more Ubisoft titles will be added to the program.
