Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update to the Galaxy S26 series in the United States, one week after the Android 17 based firmware first reached the phones in South Korea. The update is currently available for Galaxy S26 units on T-Mobile's network, and other US carriers are expected to follow soon.
The firmware carries the build identifier BZID and weighs more than 4.1GB. It also moves the devices to the September 2026 security patch, which includes fixes for security vulnerabilities.
AT&T is expected to push One UI 9 to Galaxy S26 phones on its network within a day or two, according to the report. Owners of unlocked Galaxy S26 models may have to wait a little longer.
One UI 9 Features Coming to the Galaxy S26
One UI 9 brings features Samsung first shipped on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 to its 2026 flagship slab phones, on top of the platform changes in Android 17. Additions include:
- Now Nudge
- My FanCam, which lets users select a person in an existing video and automatically reframes the clip to keep that person centered
- Call Brief
- Privacy alerts
- a Warranty and care hub that shows the warranty and Samsung Care+ coverage status of every Galaxy device linked to a Samsung account
- enhanced security controls and a more customizable Quick Settings panel
Samsung released stable One UI 9 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Flip 8 in August 2026, so the S26 lineup has waited about a month longer than the new foldables. Google shipped Android 17 to Pixel phones in mid-June 2026.
Despite the three-month gap, One UI 9 is based on the initial Android 17 release rather than QPR1, which means Galaxy S26 owners do not get the most recent round of improvements Google has added to Android.
How to Install One UI 9 on a Galaxy S26 in the US
Galaxy S26 owners in the US do not have to wait for the automatic notification. The update can be requested manually:
- Open the Settings app on the Galaxy S26.
- Tap Software update.
- Select Check for system update and download One UI 9 if it is offered.
Because the package is larger than 4.1GB, installing it over Wi-Fi avoids a large hit to mobile data allowances. Phones that report no update are most likely on a carrier or unlocked variant that has not received the firmware yet.
The US release arrives as a report published a day earlier said Samsung had pushed back the wider One UI 9 release by a week. The rollout follows the stable One UI 9 launch for the Galaxy S26 in South Korea last week.
Samsung has not published a release date for unlocked Galaxy S26 models or for US carriers beyond T-Mobile and AT&T.
