Microsoft has just announced that its current generation consoles, the Xbox Series X|S will now be supporting Dolby Vision Gaming; Dolby’s pairing with its Atmos feature that will introduce visual fidelity to more than 100 next-gen HDR titles that are available now or coming soon.

Dolby Vision will be available to Dolby Vision-enabled TVs. Xbox claims that improvements such as “incredible brightness, color, contrast, and detail” and “..epic worlds – such as lush rainforests or neon futuristic cities – are brought to life in more vivid color.” It has also been added that this feature is here to stay as Dolby and Xbox are both working closely with developers so that this feature can be integrated as seamlessly as possible into each player’s experience, whether by using-the built in features of the Xbox platform or implementing it directly into the game’s engine. Also, “thousands of existing games” with HDR10 and Auto HDR supporting games will also be able to utilize the Dolby Vision feature.

Lastly, other next-gen features are made sure to work seamlessly and utilize Dolby Vision such as “DirectX Raytracing, automatic low-latency mode (ALLM), Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), and up to 120FPS depending on the capabilities of your TV”. Microsoft and Dolby are still working with TV manufacturers to make sure that firmware is updated to support these features.
