What to expect from Halo Infinite's Fracture: Tenrai event

The first of Halo Infinite's Fracture events launches later this month.

Halo Infinite soon kicks off its first limited-time event, taking a trip back in time, drawing inspiration from feudal Japan. It's the first of Halo Infinite "Fractures," distinct week-long events, breaking up each season with a series of quirky content. This month introduces Fracture: Tenrai, a new Samurai-themed event, with various exclusive cosmetic rewards up for grabs.

While the Halo Infinite beta only just launched on Xbox consoles and PC, "Fracture: Tenrai" promises to shake up its multiplayer offerings in a big way. Developer 343 Industries has now teased what to expect from the Tenrai event, including planned content, when you can play, and how to score that coveted Yoroi armor.

Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai start date

Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai is slated to launch on Nov. 23, 2021, available as a free update to all players on Xbox consoles and PC. The limited-time event runs for one week before concluding on Nov. 30.

However, 343 Industries has stated that Fracture events aren't limited to one week and will return several times over the following months. Fracture: Tenrai is expected to return on multiple occasions throughout the first season of Halo Infinite before concluding in May 2022. Progress from each week translates to the next, providing additional opportunities to scoop up any remaining rewards.

Future dates for Fracture: Tenrai will be announced once Halo Infinite has launched on Dec. 8, coupled with more information on future themed Fracture events.

What is Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai?

Fracture: Tenrai marks the first Fracture in Halo Infinite, limited-time recurring events introducing new content into its multiplayer sandbox. Fracture events are slightly different from traditional seasons, breaking away from Halo lore and allowing for "quirkier" content and rewards. While the main Halo Infinite battle pass remains strictly in line with the Halo universe, Fractures are non-canon and freely play with the game's sandbox.

The Fracture: Tenrai event is all about Japan, this time featuring a special matchmaking playlist coupled with exclusive Samurai-themed armor and skins. The event introduces the first "Event Pass," limited time passes with tailored challenges to complete through the week. Completing the pass unlocks a series of exclusive rewards only available through the Fracture: Tenrai event.

While initially slated to run from Nov. 23 through Nov. 30, Fracture: Tenrai will return on multiple occasions throughout the season. Those who don't complete the pass during the first week can continue their progression when the event returns in a future month. You'll have a few chances to earn all the available rewards before it's removed for good sometime in 2022.

Although many expect a custom-themed game mode, the event-specific playlist also remains a mystery, breaking away from the standard arena formula. This playlist will appear via the Halo Infinite multiplayer matchmaking menu during days when the Fracture is active.

Halo Infinite Fracture: Tenrai rewards and event pass

The Fracture: Tenrai event pass will be the primary method of progression throughout its duration, boasting a series of exclusive cosmetics to earn in-game. The Yoroi armor core is an expected centerpiece of the event, with a Samurai-inspired aesthetic and several armor variants up for grabs.

Although little is known about its customization options, the Yoroi armor core joins the existing MARK VII and MARK V [B] cores available from launch. However, with armor limited to its respective core, you won't be able to mix and match an existing MARK VI helmet with some Samurai-inspired gear.

343 Industries has also teased other cosmetics via the in-game Shop, including "Yoroi-specific premium customization offerings" for your spartan. These premium options will contain additional armor sets available with Halo Credits to upgrade the armor core.

How to get the Halo Infinite Yoroi armor core

While the Yoroi armor core is currently present in Halo Infinite, the option remains locked ahead of the Fracture: Tenrai event. There is no way to obtain Yoroi armor or further customization options at this time, with complete steps expected once the Tenrai event arrives on Nov. 23.

The event pass will seemingly act as the primary method to unlock Fracture: Tenrai gear for most players. However, additional Yoroi variants will be available via the Halo Infinite Shop using Halo Credits purchasing with real-world cash.

We've rounded up the complete list of known Yoroi armor slated to debut alongside the Fracture: Tenrai event. This is expected to represent just a subset of the full armor set.
