Fresh off the heels of announcing the new PlayStation Plus and its tiered subscriptions, Sony is back with another update on the service, this time they’ve announced the upcoming free games for the month of April. As always, there are three games gracing PlayStation Plus next month, all of which can be downloaded from the PlayStation Plus hub on your PS4 or PS5.
Hood: Outlaws & Legends | PS4 & PS5
First up is Hood: Outlaws & Legends, a PvPvE multiplayer game for both PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The game is set in medieval times and offers intense online multiplayer action by pitting teams of bandits against each other to execute the perfect heist. You also fight against AI-controlled enemies while trying to steal the treasure which adds to the challenge. There are various skills and abilities to master along the ride. Hood is developed by Sumo Digital and initially came out in May 2021.
Slay the Spire | PS4
Next, is the highly acclaimed deck-building game from MegaCrit, Slay the Spire for PlayStation 4. Spire released back in 2019 and was one of the best indie games from the year going on to win multiple awards. You fight against increasing difficult hoards of monsters and bosses, all while trying to manage and arrange a collection of card as you build your deck. The game’s roguelite elements add to the overall fun by either hurting or accelerating your progress.
SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated | PS4
Last but not least, we have possibly the highlight of this lineup: SpongeBob SquarePants: Battle for Bikini Bottom – Rehydrated. Apart from the mouthful name, this game is a remake of the 2003 platformer of the same name. The game doesn’t have the most rave reviews, but has garnered a cult following over the years and that remains true for the 2020 remake developed by THQ Nordic for PlayStation 4 as well. With enjoyable platformer elements and bright, punchy visuals, this game is sure to entertain the inner child in all of us.
All three of these games will be available to download from Tuesday April 5, 2022. Till then, PS Plus games for the month of March will remain available for download. As a reminder, Persona 5 will be leaving the PS Plus Collection on May 11 so if you haven’t added the game to your library till now, do it just in case even if you’re not interested in the game as you won’t be able to access it afterwards.
