Apple Reportedly Has Started Reduction of Non-Seasonal Employees at its Retail Stores

A string of layoffs made by large technological businesses would often prompt people to wonder whether Apple will follow suit in 2023. Tim Cook, the CEO of the company, had previously indicated in 2022 that the hiring process would be highly “deliberate,” implying that only important or skilled personnel would be employed for the remainder of the year. This might be the cause of a recent story claiming that the corporation has begun firing non-seasonal workers in the retail industry.

After receiving an email, AppleInsider stated that the company has begun firing workers from its retail channel outside of its physical locations. The email’s contents, which state that Best Buy workers have received a 30-day notice on their rights, have been validated by several sources. It’s unknown how many employees Apple plans to let go as part of its cost-cutting initiatives, but there’s little denying that the business is getting ready for a sluggish 2023.

For those who are unaware, Best Buy and Apple often recruit seasonal workers to help meet the demand for certain items. This often occurs during the holidays, when demand for things like iPhones, Macs, and other goods is at its highest. The aforementioned workers’ contracts have already ended, therefore they are not included in Apple’s pool of permanent personnel.

Apple anticipated that its two top-tier models, the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 14 Pro Max, would produce large income in places where the company’s less priced iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus failed to do so. However, these predictions were incorrectFoxconn’s Zhengzhou, China factory was obliged to implement a brief lockdown in late 2022 as a result of an increase in COVID-19 instances, which was unfortunate. Apple issued a press statement, which was unusual for the firm.

Due to the aforementioned setback, the business then warned consumers that there will be fewer shipments of the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max over the Christmas season. This may have been the impetus for Apple to fire non-seasonal workers.
