Vivaldi browser has a redesigned Privacy Dashboard. The v7.7 update also comes with improved tab sync.
You may be aware that Vivaldi comes with a built-in ad and tracker blocker. The browser displays the statistics of the content it blocked on the new tab page, aka the Start Page.
This is what it looked like prior to the update. It provided a decent amount of info.
If you don't see the info on the Start Page after updating to the latest version, don't panic, the option has been removed from the page's side panel. Instead, it is now accessible via a widget. Clicking on the widget lets you access the redesigned Privacy Dashboard. That's pretty neat.
The Vivaldi 7.7 update also brings some improves to the Start Page layout. You may recall that the browser added support for Widgets in v7.0 that was released in late 2024. These widgets were only accessible via a Dashboard page. The latest update makes it possible to add Widgets and Speed Dials to the same page. You can add widgets, drag them around, resize them, add them to various Speed Dial folders.
Let's get to the browser's Settings page, it has a new section called Performance. This page allows you to toggle hardware acceleration, you can also customize the energy saver from here. For instance, it is set to automatically turn on when your laptop's battery falls below 20%, but you can set it to turn on energy saver when your device is running on battery power. You can configure the memory saver, set up lazy loading on startup, toggle prefetching of resources, and reset the performance tools from the settings page.
Vivaldi 7.7 enhances the tab sync feature, specifically, the part about accessing open tabs from other devices. Of course, you will need to be signed in to your account to sync tabs between devices. Once you have done that, click on the Windows and Tabs panel on the sidebar. You will see all your connected devices, including any mobile devices, select a device and Vivaldi will list all open tabs from that device.
The new layout preserves Workspaces (profiles), Tab Stacks (tab groups), and browser windows. So, you can now get the same experience, including all your organized tabs on a connected desktop. Right-click on a device's name or a window's name, to open all tabs from it, or copy all tab links, save them as bookmarks.
Vivaldi's about page has also been revamped.
The update also brings some tweaks to the design of Vivaldi's mail panel to improve the readability and usability.
