Anthropic has launched a new set of enterprise capabilities for its Claude AI platform, introducing department-specific plugins, custom plugin development tools, and a marketplace aimed at business customers.
The announcement comes less than a month after Anthropic first introduced plugins for Claude. The expanded offering is designed to deepen Claude’s integration into enterprise workflows and existing business software systems.
According to Anthropic, the new capabilities allow organizations to deploy plugins tailored to specific departments such as human resources and investment banking. Companies can also build custom plugins around internal processes and distribute them to employees.
Matt Piccolella, who works on products at Anthropic, said the company envisions enterprises building “dozens, hundreds, or even thousands” of these plugins, describing them as “mini apps” that can be distributed internally across teams.
Claude Plugin Marketplace and Software Integrations
Anthropic is also introducing a plugin marketplace where enterprises can host and manage their own plugins. Employees can browse available tools within the organization and select those relevant to their roles.
The company says Claude can now connect to existing enterprise software services, including:
- Google Drive and Gmail
- DocuSign
- LegalZoom
These integrations are intended to let Claude operate within established workflows rather than as a standalone chatbot.
Can AI Platforms Like Claude Replace Major Enterprise Software Providers?
Anthropic’s deeper move into enterprise tooling has added pressure to several publicly traded software companies.
Since Anthropic announced its Claude Cowork initiative on January 30, a number of enterprise software stocks have declined. According to the reported figures:
- ServiceNow shares are down more than 23%.
- Salesforce shares are down 22%.
- Snowflake shares have dropped 20%.
- Intuit shares have fallen 33%.
- Thomson Reuters shares have declined 31%.
Cybersecurity stocks also reacted to Anthropic’s February 20 announcement of Claude Code Security, a feature that scans codebases for vulnerabilities and suggests patches for review.
Following that announcement:
- CrowdStrike shares fell 7.2%.
- Zscaler shares dropped 7.1%.
- Palo Alto Networks shares declined 2.6%.
The market response reflects concerns that AI platforms such as Claude, along with competing offerings from OpenAI, could either replace certain enterprise software tools or enable companies to build custom internal solutions.
Competitive Landscape for Enterprise AI Platforms
Anthropic is not alone in expanding into enterprise AI tooling. OpenAI recently introduced its Frontier platform, which enables users to build AI agents that interact with company software systems.
Analysts cited in the report note that open-source software has long allowed companies to build custom enterprise tools, and that the broader enterprise software market has continued to grow despite those options.
Anthropic has not disclosed pricing details for the expanded enterprise features or provided specific rollout timelines beyond Tuesday’s announcement.
