Google Wallet has expanded its Live Updates feature to include real-time flight information, now showing departure times, flight duration, estimated arrival times, and gate changes directly on the lock screen or always-on display. The update requires Android 16 or higher and the latest version of Google Wallet.
How Google Wallet Live Updates Works for Flights
Once a flight is booked and the boarding pass is saved in Google Wallet, the app starts displaying live flight data without needing to open another app or check email. It shows details such as takeoff time, flight duration, estimated arrival time, and a QR code for boarding gate scanning.
Any gate changes, delays, and other real-time updates appear automatically on the lock screen as they happen. This feature is available on Android 16 devices with the always-on display turned on or through the standard lock screen.
Users on Android 16 or later need to update Google Wallet and any related services through the Play Store to enable flight Live Updates. Once the app is updated and a boarding pass is added to the wallet, no further setup is needed. Google hasn't confirmed whether the flight Live Updates feature will be available on Android versions earlier than 16 or on iOS.
