NVIDIA is mulling over launching the RTX 4070 Ti and a possible RTX 4070 at CES 2023. Within just a few days, we will have this GPU unveiled and tested by reviewers. The retail date is supposedly the 5th of January, more on that here. Just now, momomo_us shared a picture from NVIDIA’s website which confirms the RTX 4070 Ti’s specifications. The alleged specifications are no longer available so the leaker was quick to grab whatever was possible.
The RTX 4070 Ti
There really is no need to leak the specifications for NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti as it is merely a rebranded 4080 12GB. However, this leak confirms that NVIDIA is planning to launch such a GPU. It is pretty odd that we haven’t seen an RTX 4070 in action, yet.
The RTX 4070 Ti is based on the AD104 GPU, packed with 7680 Cuda Cores. The boost clock is at 2.61GHz which is similar to the RTX 4080 12GB. It shows that NVIDIA did not do anything different with this GPU. It is literally a name change, nothing else. That, however disappointing it may sound is actually easier for AIB partners in the end. The GPU supports 4K at 240Hz or 8K at 60Hz with DSC (Display Stream Compression).
Performance-wise, the RTX 4070 Ti is much faster than the RTX 3080 as per NVIDIA. In reality, we know that this GPU lags behind the RTX 3090 Ti, DLSS 3.0 is something you should factor in while buying this GPU. For content creators, the extra VRAM on the 3090 Ti may sound compelling but you should probably wait for reviews to go live before making a choice.
Release Date
The RTX 4070 Ti will be announced by NVIDIA at CES 2023, which we will cover live at Appuals. Should you plan on buying this GPU, the wait will not be long. The RTX 4070 Ti will probably hit shelves 1-2 days after the announcement. On the contrary, we have not heard anything, not a single leak regarding the RTX 4070. Seems quite weird seeing a refresh -Ti before the base GPU. In any case, NVIDIA’s pricing strategy will be crucial to this GPU’s sales.
