NVIDIA Planning to Launch the RTX 4070 Ti Priced at $799

MLID, better known as Moore’s Law Is Dead, a renowned industry leaker claims to know the MSRP for NVIDIA’s RTX 4070 Ti. The RTX 4070 Ti will be announced at CES 2023 and will retail by the 5th of January as indicated by a prior leak. The specifications for this GPU are known as it is merely a rebranded RTX 4080 12GB.

RTX 4070 Ti Pricing

MLID states that NVIDIA is ‘planning’ to launch the RTX 4070 Ti at $799, which is $100 less than the RTX 4080 12GB. This is a sigh of relief for almost everyone in the community, however, there is a catch. NVIDIA for a moment was planning to price this GPU at $899, so the $799 MSRP is not confirmed. In any case, a price similar to the RTX 4080 12GB would not make sense.

The leaker mentions that a few AIBs will charge well above MSRP if NVIDIA chooses the $799 price tag. This was expected because custom designs always tend to be more expensive than the Founders Edition. Similarly, we know very well how the RTX 4070 Ti performs. In OctaneBench, this GPU is up to 21% slower than the RTX 4080. In addition, in gaming, it loses to the RTX 3090 Ti as highlighted by NVIDIA themselves.

Harukaze also leaked the MSRP for the RTX 4070 Ti a while back. While being a very initial leak, it did raise some eyebrows because, at that time, the MSRP was leaked to be $999. This was the case for the Chinese market. It seems that there has been a change of mind at NVIDIA seeing how RDNA3 is cost-effective. Navi32 can be a serious hurdle for NVIDIA since it is also based on an MCM design.

RTX 4070 Ti Specifications

The RTX 4070 Ti will ship with 12GB of G6X memory across a 192-bit memory bus. The 4070 Ti will make use of NVIDIA’s AD104-400-A1 GPU with 7680 CUDA cores. A memory speed of 21Gbps would amount up to 504GB/s of effective bandwidth. One should note that this GPU is considerably slower than the RTX 3090 Ti in raw raster performance. A modest TDP of 285W should not need a PSU change. Pricing-wise, the RTX 4070 Ti may cost consumers upwards of $899. Though, recent leaks claim that the RTX 4070 Ti may have an MSRP of just $799.
