Google has released Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 for compatible Pixel devices, marking its move into the quarterly patch update cycle while the stable release of Android 17 is still pending. Recently, Android 17 Beta 4 was launched, and QPR1 Beta 1 has followed shortly after as Google continues to accelerate its update pace.

The release notes for Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 detail four fixes. There was a crash in the Default Print Service during low ink conditions that prevented users from completing print jobs
- An Application Not Responding error in the Terminal app caused the application and device to become unresponsive
- An audio distortion issue was caused by hardware audio processing that could not be controlled on the voice communication path in VoIP applications, resulting in distortion and phase cancellation
- Additionally, there was a failure in direct audio output on devices using the AIDL audio HAL when playing audio streams longer than five seconds.
Which Pixel Devices Support It and How to Install It
Android 17 QPR1 Beta 1 is now available for Pixel 6 and newer devices, as well as the Pixel Tablet. To install the update, you'll need to enroll in the Android Beta Program. Once enrolled, the update should be accessible over the air.
Google recommends caution when installing beta builds on a primary device, as they may be unstable.
